As a mother of two grown up kids I was unexpectedly diagnosed as a lactose-intolerant Coeliac.
I found myself constantly struggling to find cakes and bakes that weren’t a disappointment in taste, look, and a constant reminder of my new diet.
Going out for a coffee or a meal with friends was no longer something to look forward to. I felt like I was just making things difficult for everyone when there was often nothing on the menu that I could be confident wouldn’t be contaminated with gluten and/or lactose.
In 2011 I turned away from a busy professional life as a Finance Manager to start Peace Of Cake London. Having always had a passion for baking, I decided to put my time, energy and effort into making luxury, traditionally made cakes and biscuits which everyone could enjoy.
We started with a selection of teatime treats, many of which we entered into the Great Taste Awards as a means of getting feedback to further improve our recipes. Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging.
Amazingly each time we entered we came away with a coveted Gold Star.
We now offer celebration cakes, cupcakes, wedding cakes and bespoke designs which everyone can enjoy! We’re proud to say that we use only the finest ingredients, no additives, and everything is handmade and hand finished.
For those of us who really can’t afford to be contaminated with gluten rest assured that we have our products tested regularly so that we can label them as gluten-free.
