For many years I worked as the Finance Manager for one of the country’s favourite retailers, until however, a while back, I was diagnosed as being gluten intolerant, and suffering from Coeliac Disease, whilst more recently I have also been diagnosed as suffering from an intolerance to lactose.
Trying to juggle a busy professional and family life, being the happy working mother of two, I turned to the well known supermarkets seeking alternative cakes and biscuits to suit my new dietary needs. However, I found myself feeling rather disappointed at the limited products on offer. Even if those products did look the part, they most certainly tasted different, and were a constant reminder of my need to adhere to this restricted diet.
So, having always had a passion for baking, I decided to put my time, energy and effort into making luxury, homemade cakes and biscuits, which my family, guests and myself could enjoy. After receiving numerous words of praise and even surprise from them when I told them that the bakes were indeed gluten and often enough lactose free, I decided to take a break from my career and try and share these with all the cake and biscuit lovers out there, who like myself, were not prepared to compromise in taste nor choice.
Most importantly all our cakes and bakes are home-made from scratch, including our cake fillings – many of which include our delicious home-made jams. As such we are proud to say that we belong to the “Baked from Scratch” group.
